July 10-11, 2010 - Denver, CO Hi everyone!
Well the official start to the summer tour
season was just kicked off here in Denver, CO at the Colorado Irish
Fest. What a great venue.
Great stage, open air, nice gentle slope in front so there isn't a
bad seat in the house. On top of that great staff and
So we did two shows on two days. Both were
equally great. Full house for both shows and the people came ready for a
good show. We haven't played as a full band for awhile now so it was fun
getting on stage together again and seeing what would happen. Natalie
was on fire as usual and was having a
great time on stage. Also
as a treat, for both shows, we had special guests in the form of
Irish Dancers! These
girls put on a heck of a show and we were having a hard time keeping up
with them! It was a great addition to the show and the audience loved
it. Natalie received standing Thanks so much to all the staff, volunteers, drivers, other musicians, and of course the fans here in Denver. It was a perfect festival and we'd love to come back again! Now we have a short flight to Durango, CO for "Music in the Mountains". Sounds like another fun one! See you there! PS. Thanks to Wayne and Jennell Smith for the photos!! |

............................................................................................................................... July 13, 2010 - Durango, CO Wow are we ever in a beautiful spot today!! We're about 45 minutes outside of Durango and a ski hill called "Purgatory"!! This place has everything; mountains, wildlife, fresh air, higher elevation!! I thought it was hard to breath in Denver, well we're up at 8000 feet now! Whew!! We actually flew in yesterday on a day off from Denver. Stopped for a bite in the town of Durango. If you ever get a chance to be in this area the town is a beautiful place to visit. Great stores, great restaurants, and great people. Anyway the gig itself was something else. They have erected a large tent for the "Music in the Mountains" series. I was told that they usually have classical acts perform there so we're a bit of an oddity. One thing about this gig is they sure treated the band like royalty. From the food to the hotel staff there is none finer. As well as an added treat there was an Oxygen Bar backstage!! How cool is that! We all took turns hooked up to the machine and I have to say it did help out with our oxygen needs at this high altitude. So the show itself was quite an experience. The tent itself was packed solid and the outside area around the tent also had a lot of people lounging on their own lawn chairs. Now we never know what to expect at these kind of events and were totally shocked with the energy of the crowd! If felt like one big house party with people dancing in the isles and whooping it up in their seats! I know I've said this before but our job is so much easier and the show is so much better when the audience is into the music. When people are dancing and hands are clapping and feet are stomping Natalie feels at home and it shows in her performance! A huge thanks to everyone who came out as well as to the staff and volunteers at this wonderful event. Please do yourself a favor and plan to visit this area. You won't be sorry! See you next time!
