April 16-17, 2010 - Casino Rama (Ontario) Well if you ever wanted the most bang for your buck this weekend was explosive!! Natalie and the boys did the show of all shows with their good friends Leahy at Casino Rama just north of Toronto Ontario. Wow what a place this is! Seating for around 4500 people, state of the art sound and lighting, great staff and a huge stage. Now we needed a huge stage because with both bands up there we had as many as 16 people on stage at once!! So to back track a little, most of us got in the day before show day and the plan for the show was unveiled. The problem was people kept coming up with better ideas and new twists for the show and when we were at soundcheck the day of the first show we still didn't have a completed show! Let's just say there was a bit of anxiety! But being true professionals everybody's focus became laser sharp and the show went off flawlessly. Of course we all were overshadowed by the surprise of the night, "Leahy - The Next Generation"!! (Well that's what I called it anyway). So imagine you're sitting in the audience and two young Leahy lads come out and start playing the fiddle. Well if that wasn't entertaining enough, one by one a new Leahy child would come out and dance up a storm. Also as each one came out they got progressively younger! And they were all great!! Well that was a big mistake! After they left the stage there was nothing anyone of us could do to top that! I think next time we'll leave them until the last song. We just can't compete with that!!
The next day some more show tweaking and a
run through of a few tunes and we were again ready for the big show.
This night was sold out and the place was rocking. Now that we've done
the show once we were a bit more relaxed and the show took on a life of
it's own. More horsing around onstage and a few new dance moves by
members of both bands made it an incredible and
memorable show. |

Thanks to everyone who came out to these two shows. You folks were wonderful and made our jobs so easy. We hope it isn't another two years before we do another show like this (who knows, maybe we'll tour both bands!!). See ya down the road! ............................................................................................................................... March 18, 2010 -- Rutland, VT A bit of a twisty trip last night from Philly but we made it safe and sound in beautiful Rutland, VT for a show tonight. What a incredible part of the country this is. I'm always impressed by both the natural beauty and the incredible architecture of this area. The buildings are very unique and interesting. So we are at the Paramount Theater today. It's one of these inner city gems that oozes history. The detailing on the interior is something to see and you can tell that restoring and maintaining this facility is a labor of love. You just can't beat these old theaters for the vibe that you feel as soon as you walk on stage. Also the town itself is incredible. We love to walk along the main streets and see all the "mom and pop" stores along the way. We found a great juice bar just across the street as well that got a few of us excited! (Okay I got excited!) Well tonight's show was one of those rare shows where the music is great and we were all a little bit crazy. Mac decided, before the show, that we all had to act out our favorite "Muppet" character on stage. We tend to do things like this every once in a while just to add an extra bit of craziness to the show. Well I started with "Beaker", followed by Natalie's impersonation of "Miss Piggy". During the solo's JD did his impersonation of "The Count". But the best one of the night is where Mac disappeared and the next thing we know a stage hand is dragging out a garbage can and yes Mac popped out of it to dohis impression of "Oscar the Grouch"! Seems like Nathaniel, the youngest of us by far, was the most mature in that he refused to play our game!! Kids these days!! Anyway if that wasn't crazy enough, Natalie broke a string on her final solo and ended up playing the rest of the show on only three strings. Incredible. All in all the audience tonight was treated, for better or worse, to one of the most unique shows we've ever done. Hopefully everyone had fun. So now we say goodbye for awhile and head our separate ways. Natalie and Mac join up with the Leahy's for a couple of Two Fiddle, Two Pianos dates and then they get to go home too. I think it's an understatement to say that we can't wait for the next full band dates. Thanks everyone and see you down the road. ............................................................................................................................... March 17, 2010 -- Philadelphia, PA
Hi everyone. Well the band is back again.
Natalie decided that this year, between the Two Fiddles, Two Pianos
shows she was going to be doing some of her own dates with her
band. Today marked the first of these shows. Actually, with the
exception of one date last year, this band hasn't played together since
December of 2008!! We all dusted So tonight is St. Patrick's day and what a great city to be in for this event. Philadelphia is one of my favourite cities in the US. We're playing at the Zellerbach Theatre on the grounds of Penn State University. What a great theatre this is with areally good vibe to it. The staff here are wonderful and they always get some great Chinese food brought in for catering!! Good fuel = great show!! So being St. Patrick's day, the crowd was primed for Natalie and she didn't disappoint. From the moment she walked on stage we all knew it was going to be a great show. I think all of us were both excited and a tiny bit nervous about how the show was going to go. I forgot to mention that our Piper, Matt, was unable to attend these two shows so other members had to fill in some spaces that were usually filled by him. Anyway between Natalie, Mac and Nathaniel, they filled in all the empty spaces. The show ended up a great success and it sure felt great to be back on stage with Natalie and these incredible musicians. We all really miss hanging out together and playing some great music. Next we're overnighting on the bus to Rutland, VT for one more show. Just a short little tour this time but keep checking the website for more dates with both the band and the Two Fiddle, Two Pianos shows..... Thanks everyone!
